I've had this idea for a while, but with the Halloween update, we might be able to make it more epic by somehow making it into one of those portals to the Nether

This would be awesome. You can spawn the blue aura stuff in the hell gate. Perhaps it doesn't have to be in the gate to teleport you there.

We cleared the land for Falador and started outlining the walls. Its so large you can't even see the otherside with fog off. Its a 2:1 scale.

The gate seems to be only 52 blocks high. So if we start at sea level we shall be fine.

well if you want a good way to do the blue aura
i would do it by placing water blocks on the upper inner circle of the gate
(this would be of course if you are going to make it a 3d building instead of a flat 1 block wide)

I think it would be really fun to make it the active star gate.... so it has the blue mushroom cloud comming out of it... just line it all with glass and
fill it with water from the top. Smile
then right click the correct glass and the water drains and you get tele ported! weee fun times

hey what if u used pumpkins instead of gold that would be a much closer color resemblance to the real one
u could lay them so their faces arent visible (even though they probably wouldnt be at the distance necessary to see the whole thing)
also they emit light like the star gate
