im writing a constitution... just an idea to get words and ideas on paper. or hard drive. whatever works for you.

Constitution

Article 1 - Rights of the People

1) Right to free speech. No person may impede or deny a player's right to speak his or her mind. Moderators and administrators hold the sole power and discretion to mute a player for excessive or unprompted profanity.

2) Due Process. All persons accused of breaking a server rule, shall be innocent until proven guilty. No person shall be accused twice of the same crime unless sufficient, conclusive evidence against them is presented.

3) Unreasonable Search & Seizure. Admins and moderators may, with proper cause, use their power to search the invetory of a player or contents of a hidden chest. Only admins reserve the right to seize the inventory of a player or contents of a hidden chest.

4) Cruel & Unusual Punishment. It is the right of the convicted to have his punishment reviewed by a judicial of higher rank.

Article 2 - Ranks

1) God. The Owner of the server reserves the right to do WHATEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS. This law supersedes all laws of this Constitution.

2) Admins. Administrators of the server will be chosen on the basis of personal trust between the owner of the server, or the majority of the reigning administrators. Admins are charged to uphold this Constitution to the best of their ability. Administrators logged on have the highest authority on the server, besides the Owner. If there should be a dispute between admins, the debate will be extended to all admins for consideration and voting.

3) Mods. Moderators of the server will be chosen at the discretion of the reigning admins. No person may become or lose status as a moderator until approved by a 2/3 majority of the admins. Moderators are expected to uphold this Constitution to the best of their ability. Should there be a dispute between moderators, the debate shall be taken to currently logged in admins for consideration.

4) Donors. Players who have donated towards the upkeep of the server shall have extra in-game abilities. These players have the same rank as a normal citizen, unless they already have a higher rank.

5) Citizens. Any player who, in the eyes of an admin or moderators, can be trusted to join to the community will be given the rank of Citizen.

6) Newcomers. All players who do not have a rank shall retain the same rights as Citizens.

7) Equality of the Ranks. Any and all ranked officials accused of abusing their power will be tried under the same system as a regular citizen. Any person held in contempt shall be stripped of their rank to the proper level.

Article 3 - Survival MultiPlayer

1) Griefing. The destruction of unprotected structures by any player is fair game.

2) Looting & Stealing. The taking of items from a chest by any player is fair game.

3) Cuboid. Only essential admin buildings may be protected from unwanted harm or intrusion. Personal structures by players are NOT to be protected unless they serve purely aesthetic purposes and the admins wish to preserve it. Thus, any protected structure may NOT be used for personal gain.

I'd say this is hilarious ane perfect except for the looting and griefing.

Griefing in the respect of hacking the game to ruin everything is banable breaking a block here and there of someone elses is potentially punishable and stealing is frowned upon.

Stealing is frowned upon if all you do is steal

Where do we draw the line? A griefer could say "Oh yeah all I did was break a few blocks" but of course, the owner of the structure may complain that a significant portion of their structure is missing. We need to more clearly define this rule.

thats why i clearly said
if you break blocks in order to loot it counts as a major grief offense and is ban able

and those are the rules till phrenic or some admin makes an OFFICIAL change to them

i also put in minor offenses which are open to the interpretation of the staff who is present
this would include destroying a block here or there, but its up to the staff on scene

now im working on making it so we can have a fair process in which there will be a review by higher authority
but im also trying to make it so we have a lot of faith in the decisions of our staff
because theres no way we are going to get hard evidence on every offender
therefore in due time it will be like mods making their decision, posting who and why on the forum and it being reviewed (prolly by me or an admin that notices alot of controversy in the decisions)
this way we can make swift removal of offenders and at the same time keep our mods honest and reduce the work load of our admins

now its gonna be awhile before this happens cuz i need the forum redone before it can happen
